Earth Dwellers release!

Your favorite Dwellers and Country Saga characters come together in this epic seventh book!

As President Borg Lecter threatens to annihilate the Country tribes in order to expand his glass-domed empire, Adele ventures into the belly of the beast. Her only hope of survival is the consolidation of Dwellers and Country power before it’s too late.

Former demagogue President Nailin is eliminated, yet civil unrest infects every alliance. To save Adele, President Tristan faces his greatest challenge yet: unifying unfriendly Dwellers in the Tri-Realms to raise an army against Lecter. Meanwhile, Dazz must convince the Ice Country leaders to march with Siena and the Tri-Tribes on the gates of the Glass City.

The world sits on the edge of a knife. Will Adele, Tristan, Dazz, and Siena defeat Lecter and his army of killers before the Glassies wipe them off the face of the Earth?

Divergent Trailer!

I cannot wait for this movie! I hope that they stay true to the book. I am always hesitant to watch movies that are based on my favourite books, but this looks good! Love Kate Winslet as Jeanine Matthews.

E-books for seniors

June is Seniors’ Month, a time where senior citizens are celebrated all across the nation. The City of Kawartha Lakes Public Library is also showing its support and appreciation for the many contributions this group has made to our great country by ensuring these citizens enjoy a long and healthy retirement. One way to do so is to provide access to library materials in a variety of formats that make reading more accessible to senior citizens. In addition to books on tape and large print books, the public library has a large collection of e-books available.

Hunger Games: Cathching Fire teaser

I am so excited for the next Hunger Games movie to come out! I enjoyed the first one a lot. Although it wasn't nearly as good as the book (of course), it was well done.

If you haven't already done so, check out my review of Catching Fire

The Real Jane Austen: A Life in Small Things

The Real Jane Austen:
A Life in Small Things

by Paula Byrne

On 8 March 2013 we celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) by celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.  IWD has been observed since the early 1900's, a time of great development and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw a significant growth in population and the rise of radical ideologies. To honour this day, this article will focus on a book about a true pioneer in English literature who ignored cultural expectations for her life to become one of the most celebrated authors in history.

Can’t get enough Harry Potter? Do you miss Bella, Edward or even Jacob? A new book series called Wiley Pop Culture and History Series focuses on the relationship between prevalent pop culture phenomena and factual history. The contributing authors are some of the most respected experts in their disciplines, but the books are written to appeal to all readers. The series currently includes Twilight, Harry Potter and Star Wars. Although not yet published, another volume will be released, Star Trek and History, in April.

YA literature resource

I have recently discovered a really good site for YA lit and its even an YA book club!

It is called Readergirlz and its mission is to promote teen literacy and corresponding social services. They have won numerous awards and it is a really interesting site.

They describe themselves as "readergirlz is the cutting-edge literacy and social media project for teens, awarded the National Book Award for Innovations in Reading. It is a nonprofit volunteer organization."
